BIBLE VASANAM
Psalm 27: 1-10

  • The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
  • When the wicked came against me to eat up my flesh, my enemies and foes, they stumbled and fell.
  • Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this I will be confident.
  • One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
  • For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.
  • And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.
  • Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
  • When You said, "Seek My face," My heart said to You, "Your face, Lord, I will seek."
  • Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
  • When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take care of me.

Today Bible Vasanam
Isaiah 58: 1-10

  • "Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins.
  • Yet they seek Me daily, And delight to know My ways, As a nation that did righteousness, And did not forsake the ordinance of their God. They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; They take delight in approaching God.
  • 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and You have not seen? Why have we afflicted our souls, and You take no notice?' "In fact, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, And exploit all your laborers.
  • Indeed you fast for strife and debate, And to strike with the fist of wickedness. You will not fast as you do this day, To make your voice heard on high.
  • Is it a fast that I have chosen, A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head like a bulrush, And to spread out sackcloth and ashes? Would you call this a fast, And an acceptable day to the Lord?
  • "Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, And that you break every yoke?
  • Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
  • Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
  • Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, 'Here I am.' "If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness.

Bible Today Message

Bible Today Message
John 3: 1-10
  • Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.
  • He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
  • In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."
  • "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
  • Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
  • Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
  • You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'
  • The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
  • "How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.
  • "You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things?

Bible Words message
John 15: 1-12
  • "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
  • He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.
  • You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
  • Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
  • "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
  • If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.
  • If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.
  • This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
  • "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
  • If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.
  • I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
  • My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Bible Words (11-12-2014)

Today Bible Words (11-12-2014)
John 16: 1-30
  • "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble.
  • "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.
  • "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
  • "But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you.
  • "But now I go away to Him who sent Me, and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'
  • "But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart.
  • "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
  • "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement of sin.
  • Because they do not believe in me of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more of judgement, because the ruler of this world is judged.
  • "I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.
  • "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
  • "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
  • "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
  • "A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father."
  • Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?"
  • They said therefore, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We do not know what He is saying."
  • Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and He said to them, "Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said, 'A little while.
  • And you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me'?
  • "Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
  • "A woman, when she is in labour, has sorrow because her hour has come; but as soon as she has given birth to the child,.
  • She no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.
  • "Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.
  • "And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you.
  • "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
  • "These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.
  • "In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you;
  • Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
  • "I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father."
  • His disciples said to Him, "See, now You are speaking plainly, and using no figure of speech!
  • "Now we are sure that You know all things, and have no need that anyone should question You.
  •  By this we believe that You came forth from God."

Today Bible Words

Today Bible Words
1 Thessalonians 4:1-18

  • Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living.
  • Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
  • For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
  • It is God's will that you should be sanctified that you should avoid sexual immorality.
  • That each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable.
  • Not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God, and that in this matter no one should wrong his brother or take advantage of him.
  • The Lord will punish men for all such sins, as we have already told you and warned you.
  • For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.
  • Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.
  • Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other.
  • And in fact, you do love all the brothers throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brothers, to do so more and more.
  • Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you,
  • So that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
  • Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope.
  • We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
  • According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
  • For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
  • After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
  • And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.

Today Bible Words

Today Bible Words

Romans 8 : 1-40
  • Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
  • Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
  • For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.
  • And so he condemned sin in sinful manin order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
  • Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires.
  • But those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
  • The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.
  • The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
  • Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
  • You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.
  • And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
  • But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.
  • And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you.
  • He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.
  • Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.
  • For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
  • Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
  • For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
  • The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
  • Now if we are children, then we are heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ.
  • If indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
  • I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
  • The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed.
  • For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it.
  • In hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
  • We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
  • Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.
  • For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?
  • But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
  • In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
  • And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
  • And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
  • For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
  • And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
  • What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
  • He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us allow will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
  • Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.
  • Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
  • Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
  • As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
  • No, in all these things we are more than conqueroathrough him who loved us.
  • For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers.
  • Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Today Bible Words
John 8 :1-20

  • But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
  • At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them.
  • The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group
  • And said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.
  • In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?"
  • They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him. But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.
  • When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her."
  • Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
  • At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there.
  • Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
  • "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
  • When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
  • The Pharisees challenged him, "Here you are, appearing as your own witness; your testimony is not valid."
  • Jesus answered, "Even if I testify on my own behalf, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going.
  • But you have no idea where I come from or where I am going.
  • You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one.
  • But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.
  • In your own Law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid.
  • I am one who testifies for myself; my other witness is the Father, who sent me."
  • Then they asked him, "Where is your father?" "You do not know me or my Father," Jesus replied. "If you knew me, you would know my Father also."
  • He spoke these words while teaching in the temple area near the place where the offerings were put. Yet no one seized him, because his time had not yet come.

My Father, as I pause this day to think of the brave men and women who have given their lives for the sake of others, may I be thankful for them. May I remember that noble deeds and kind words  never lost, but that self may block the way to justice. O Father, make war to cease! and lead us to victories that are won through peace. Amen.

1John 1 1-20

  • That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched--this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
  • The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.
  • We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
  • We write this to make our joy complete.
  • This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
  • If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.
  • But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
  • If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
  • If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

Daily Prayer: 2014-12-03

Romans 12: 1-21

  • Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
  • Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
  • Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
  • For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought.
  • But rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
  • Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
  • So in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
  • We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
  • If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teacHh if it is encouraging, let him encourage.
  • If it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership.
  • Let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
  • Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
  • Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
  • Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
  • Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
  • Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
  • Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
  • Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
  • Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
  • Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
  • If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
  • Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
  • On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
  • Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Genesis 12
  • Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, From your family And from your father's house, To a land that I will show you.
  • I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
  • I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed."
  • So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.
  • Then Abram took Sarai his wife and Lot his brother's son, and all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they departed to go to the land of Canaan. So they came to the land of Canaan.
  • Abram passed through the land to the place of Shechem, as far as the terebinth tree of Moreh. And the Canaanites were then in the land.
  • Then the LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your descendants I will give this land." And there he built an altar to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
  • And he moved from there to the mountain east of Bethel, and he pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; there he built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.
  • So Abram journeyed, going on still toward the South.
  • Now there was a famine in the land, and Abram went down to Egypt to dwell there, for the famine was severe in the land.
  • And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, "Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance.
  • "Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, 'This is his wife'; and they will kill me, but they will let you live.
  • "Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you."
  • So it was, when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians saw the woman, that she was very beautiful.
  • The princes of Pharaoh also saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh's house.
  • He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels.
  • But the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
  • And Pharaoh called Abram and said, "What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she was your wife?
  • "Why did you say, 'She is my sister'? I might have taken her as my wife. Now therefore, here is your wife; take her and go your way."
  • So Pharaoh commanded his men concerning him; and they sent him away, with his wife and all that he had.

Today Bible Words
1 Thessalonians 5

  • But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
  • For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
  • For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
  • But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
  • You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
  • Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
  • For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
  • But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
  • For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • Who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
  • Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
  • And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
  • And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
  • Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.
  • See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
  • Rejoice always,
  • Pray without ceasing,
  • In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
  • Do not quench the Spirit.
  • Do not despise prophecies.
  • Test all things; hold fast what is good.
  • Abstain from every form of evil.
  • Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
  • Brethren, pray for us.
  • Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.
  • I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
  • The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Today Bible Words
1John 4:1-20

  • Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
  • This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
  • But every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
  • You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
  • They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.
  • We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood.
  • Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
  • Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
  • This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
  • This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
  • Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
  • No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
  • We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
  • And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.
  • If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.
  • And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
  • In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him.
  • There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
  • We love because he first loved us.
  • If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar.
  • For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

Acts 1
  • In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach.
  • Until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
  • After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive.
  • He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
  • On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
  • For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."
  • So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
  • He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.
  • But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
  • After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
  • They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them.
  • "Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven.
  • Will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
  • Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city.
  • When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying.
  • Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.
  • They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
  • In those days Peter stood up among the believers and said, "Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit spoke long ago through the mouth of David concerning Judas.
  • Who served as guide for those who arrested Jesus he was one of our number and shared in this ministry."
  • With the reward he got for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.
  • Everyone in Jerusalem heard about this, so they called that field in their language Akeldama, that is, Field of Blood.
  • "For," said Peter, "it is written in the book of Psalms, "'May his place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in it,' and, "'May another take his place of leadership.'
  • Therefore it is necessary to choose one of the men who have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
  • Beginning from John's baptism to the time when Jesus was taken up from us. For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection."
  • So they proposed two men: Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias.
  • Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen.
  • To take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs."
  • Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.

Psalm 9

For the director of music. To the tune of "The Death of the Son." A psalm of David. I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
My enemies turn back; they stumble and perish before you.
For you have upheld my right and my cause; you have sat on your throne, judging righteously.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;
You have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
Endless ruin has overtaken the enemy, you have uprooted their cities;
Even the memory of them has perished.
The LORD reigns forever; he has established his throne for judgment.
He will judge the world in righteousness; he will govern the peoples with justice.
The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD,
Have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
For he who avenges blood remembers; he does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
O LORD, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
That I may declare your praises in the gates of the Daughter of Zion
and there rejoice in your salvation.
The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
The LORD is known by his justice; the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
Higgaion. Selah,The wicked return to the grave,
all the nations that forget God.
But the needy will not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the afflicted ever perish.
Arise, O LORD, let not man triumph; let the nations be judged in your presence.
Strike them with terror, O LORD; let the nations know they are but men.

Proverbs 28
  • The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
  • When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.
  • A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.
  • Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.
  • Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.
  • Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.
  • He who keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.
  • He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.
  • If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.
  • He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.
  • A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.
  • When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding.
  • He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
  • Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.
  • Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked man ruling over a helpless people.
  • A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment, but he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life.
  • A man tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till death; let no one support him.
  • He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.
  • He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.
  • A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.
  • To show partiality is not good-- yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.
  • A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him.
  • He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.
  • He who robs his father or mother and says, "It's not wrong"-- he is partner to him who destroys.
  • A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.
  • He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
  • He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.
  • When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.

Today Bible Words
1Peter 1: 1-25

  • Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus,
  • Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
  • Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the
  • Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
  • Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.
  • Who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
  • In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials.
  • That the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,Whom having not seen you love.
  • Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
  • Receiving the end of your faith; the salvation of your souls.
  • Off this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,
  • Searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
  • To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those.
  • Who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven; things which angels desire to look into.
  • Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
  • As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance;
  • But, as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
  • Because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;
  • Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
  • But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
  • He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
  • Who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
  • Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
  • Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,
  • Because "All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,
  • But the word of the LORD endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Psalm 50: 1-23

  • A psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God, the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.
  • From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
  • Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.
  • He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:
  • "Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
  • And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah
  • "Hear, O my people, and I will speak, O Israel, and I will testify against you: I am God, your God.
  • I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices or your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.
  • I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,
  • for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.
  • I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are mine.
  • If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
  • Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?
  • Sacrifice thank offerings to God, fulfill your vows to the Most High,
  • and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me."
  • But to the wicked, God says: "What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?
  • You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.
  • When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.
  • You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.
  • You speak continually against your brother and slander your own mother's son.
  • These things you have done and I kept silent; you thought I was altogether like you. But I will rebuke you and accuse you to your face.
  • "Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with none to rescue:
  • He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."

Today bible words
Psalm 94:1-23
  • O LORD, the God who avenges, O God who avenges, shine forth.
  • Rise up, O Judge of the earth; pay back to the proud what they deserve.
  • How long will the wicked, O LORD, how long will the wicked be jubilant?
  • They pour out arrogant words; all the evildoers are full of boasting.
  • They crush your people, O LORD; they oppress your inheritance.
  • They slay the widow and the alien; they murder the fatherless.
  • They say, "The LORD does not see; the God of Jacob pays no heed."
  • Take heed, you senseless ones among the people; you fools, when will you become wise?
  • Does he who implanted the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
  • Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches man lack knowledge?
  • The LORD knows the thoughts of man; he knows that they are futile.
  • Blessed is the man you discipline, O LORD, the man you teach from your law;
  • You grant him relief from days of trouble, till a pit is dug for the wicked.
  • For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.
  • Judgement will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
  • Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
  • Unless the LORD had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
  • When I said, "My foot is slipping," your love, O LORD, supported me.
  • When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.
  • Can a corrupt throne be allied with you-- one that brings on misery by its decrees?
  • They band together against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death.
  • But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.
  • He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the LORD our God will destroy them.

Acts 2:1-15
  • When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
  • Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
  • They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
  • All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
  • Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
  • When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
  • Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
  • Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?
  • Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
  • Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome.
  • Cretans and Arabs--we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"
  • Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?"
  • Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine."
  • Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd:
  • "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.
  • These men are not drunk, as you suppose. It's only nine in the morning!

Psalm 86: 1-16
  • A prayer of David. Hear, O LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy.
  • Guard my life, for I am devoted to you. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you.
  • Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I call to you all day long.
  • Bring joy to your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
  • You are forgiving and good, O Lord, abounding in love to all who call to you.
  • Hear my prayer, O LORD; listen to my cry for mercy.
  • In the day of my trouble I will call to you, for you will answer me.
  • Among the gods there is none like you, O Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.
  • All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.
  • For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.
  • Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.
  • I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever.
  • For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths of the grave.
  • The arrogant are attacking me, O God; a band of ruthless men seeks my life-- men without regard for you.
  • But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
  • Turn to me and have mercy on me; grant your strength to your servant and save the son of your maidservant.

Today Jesus Message

Today Jesus Message
Psalm 20: 1-9
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
May the LORD answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. Selah. May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests. Now I know that the LORD saves his anointed; he answers him from his holy heaven with the saving power of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. O LORD, save the king! Answer us when we call!
